Saltwater Pool and Relaxing Area

In the central area, we have our saltwater pool. If you want a refreshment you should go into the pool. It has different depths – in the entrance it is shallow and at the end it is more than two meters deep. Perfect for relaxing at hot days or for swimming. Around the pool there are some sunbeds, another sitting place with a sun cover and a stone bench. The Pool Area is separated from the Palm Area by a beautiful stone wall.

Cavalos no Rio Mondego

We have our own horse-riding school next to Encontro no Rio, named “Cavalos no Rio Mondego”. With our four beautiful horses we offer riding lessons and walks into nature. We create everything individual, that’s why everybody is welcome – horse enthusiasts, absolute beginners and experienced riders. We only have one restriction – we have a weight limit of 70kg for three horses and one horse has the limit of 60kg.

Our main goal is that the riders and the horses have fun and enjoy the encounter.

In the end of spring and in summer, when the river is high, we have an up and down going terrain for our horse rides in the woods and the possibility to walk some meters into the water. In the colder times of autumn, winter and the beginning of spring we also have the flat area of the river.

Kayak tours and Water fun

We have three double kayaks. Possible to use alone or with two adults (also possible with a little child in the middle). It is possible to paddle in both directions (one direction is limited when the water level is down - you can paddle about 1km, and the other direction you can have boat trips for hours). You come along a beautiful river landscape with a lot of stones and sometimes you spot some houses or ruins.

Penedo C'abana - 2km 5min

From our Quinta and one of our Apartments you can see the big stone: Penedo C’abana – that’s why this apartment is called “Vista do Penedo”. From here you have a unique view of the Mondego river and our farm and can enjoy impressive sunsets. If you are skilful, there is one big stone which can be moved a bit.

It is located here in Póvoa de Midões, you can easily find a parking place in front of the viewpoint.

Trilhos dos Gaios - 7,5km 14min

It is a hiking trail with many colourful bridges. In 2023 all the bridges were renovated.

The trail is also a good mountain bike route along a cool stream, which invites you to cool off in summer. The trail leads over several colourful wooden bridges and passes an impressive bamboo forest. You have the option to turn around for a shorter walk or to take the whole circular trail through nature. It is suitable for young and old.

In Portugal you can find a lot of wooden bridges and walking trails along rivers and slopes – in portuguese they are called trilho or passadiço.
